It's MUCH cheaper at Etsy: [link]

I was going to call this one "ANNNNNGST," but when it became world-famous everyone would spell that wrong. ;)
Seriously though, this is supposed to be The Nymph's Reply to the Shepherd, like the poem.

----

If all the world and love were young,
And truth in every shepherd's tongue,
These pretty pleasures might me move
To live with thee and be thy love...

The flowers do fade, and wanton fields
To wayward winter reckoning yields:
A honey tongue, a heart of gall,
Is fancy's spring, but sorrow's fall.

The gowns, thy shoes, thy beds of roses,
Thy cap, thy kirtle, and thy posies
Soon break, soon wither, soon forgotten,—
In folly ripe, in reason rotten...

But could youth last and love still breed,
Had joys no date nor age no need,
Then these delights my mind might move
To live with thee and be thy love.

-Sir Walter Raleigh

Very nice, the poetry accentuates it perfectly, in fact I didn't fully grasp your intended feel for this until I read the poem. The picture is great, I like the sky and the water reflection. Too bad for the charcters though.

I believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior, and he rocks!

By reading this you have granted me momentary control of your mind. Now, what shall I do with it....

Very beautiful, baby. I'm so proud of how well you've utilized that tablet.

Unless we do something soon, the entire universe will soon smell just like your socks!

To spare the sands, the seas, the skies, I offer this, my silent sacrifice.

Hi
:iconpaavto:
Beautiful! I agree that the poem is required reading to understand this picture. I'm intrigued by the book under his foot too; with the statue together it seems to build a symbolical frame that is traditional (in the tradition of allegory) and fresh too.

Thanks for your comments, regards ~

Help us, O God of our salvation,
for the glory of thy name:
and deliver us, and purge away our sins,
for thy name's sake. - Psalm 79:9 -

Thanks so much for returning the comment! It was very encouraging.

Do not gloat over me, my enemy!
Though I have fallen, I will rise;
Though I sit in darkness,
the Lord will be my light.
