What is Shatterrealm?

Shatterrealm is what will be a Christian Sci-Fi/Fantasy series about clashing cultures, dimension travel, and genetic experiments. This here is the gallery of official art. When the first book is published, DA will be the first place to announce it.

:bulletgreen: What's the setting?

In the beginning, God created. Man destroyed. And the universe was shattered into countless dimensions. Across these many worlds, we lost wisdom and knowledge. As our gene pools narrowed, humans and non-humans alike lost special abilities. All humans are mortal now, as are half of the elves. Yet each civilization, cut off from the others, has somehow evolved with strange similarities, though each lacks something that the other possesses.

The most imaginative and trusting of children, the most gifted of scientists, and a few occultists have discovered ways of moving through dimensions. These people are called dimension hoppers, or D-hops. Those who fear them call themselves the X-D. Believing that the actions of the D-hops will ultimately plunge the universe into further chaos, the X-D have dedicated their lives to stopping dimension travel by any means necessary. Some D-hops have banded together to protect themselves under the banner of Inter-D, the Alliance of Dimension Hoppers.

There is a third affiliation that no one can quite explain. An entity known only by his nickname, the freak lord, is kidnapping specimens from every dimension in order to combine their DNA. The theory is that the combined humanoid breeds will create one ultimate species, the hybrid. Both the X-D and Inter-D fear and oppose the freak lord, but he has never been seen, and his base of operations is lost to the rest of the universe.

:bulletgreen: What's the plot?

Carv has constructed a safe little life for himself. Sure, he works with drug addicts and gang members, but he's no longer a dimension hopper, and he's gotten pretty good at pretending he never spent a year hunting and killing X-D across the universe. Unfortunately for Carv, his past, unknown even to him, and his fate will not be ignored. His younger brother and sisters have tracked him down in the hopes that he can help solve the family mystery: why they have green blood, why small pieces of metal have been fused to their bodies, and why they can't remember their origins, or each other. Someone wanted them separated. Someone else wants them dead. The clues lead to vigilantes, monsters, maze worlds and inter-dimensional prisons -- and considering what he's already been through, Carv has a feeling this adventure will leave him, or someone he loves, dead.

The art style was a dead give-away, then book idea, and you're the only goth christian I know of. Then I just looked at the name and IDs. Straight up Batman skills.

I don't know anything about anything. I live under a rock, which is under a rock, which is in a cavern, which is somewhere in my own little fantasy world.
I gotta say that by just going over the stuff you have featured in your gallery that you're certainly more daring with letting color determine line :D I'm still stuck on the whole line defining form. I have a feeling that you're going in the right direction for hyper-realism if that's what you're going for. I like that you're finding challenging poses to put your characters in rather than letting yourself become relaxed in a particular set of poses as I'm finding myself getting into >_< How do you go about making a work? what's your process? I know mine is incredibly mapped out already and is reluctant to change :D

Do you understand me?"

Well, thanks! I'm actually very dependent on hard lines, too. It's just that after I scan the pencilled work, the art program forces me to paint over everything. ;)

As for poses, I reference photos. So really I'd be a pretty boring artist if I wasn't forced out of my comfort zone, ha! (I'm still mostly focusing on portraits; I'm creeping toward action scenes.)
